# Introduction

> Nexiom Connect is the email and WhatsApp API for developers. Send transactional email and WhatsApp messages, and follow every delivery.

Nexiom Connect sends your application's transactional email — sign-up confirmations, password resets, receipts, alerts — from your own domain, and WhatsApp messages from your own business number. It tells you what happened to every message.

## What you need to send email

1. A **sending domain** you can add DNS records to, such as `mail.example.com`.
2. An **API key** from your project's dashboard.

That's it. Once the domain is verified, send with the [Node.js SDK](/docs/examples/nodejs), the [PHP SDK](/docs/examples/php), or any HTTP client.

## How email works

### Verify your domain

Add a subdomain such as `mail.example.com` and publish the DNS records shown in your dashboard. Nexiom Connect checks them automatically. See [Domains](/docs/learn/domains).

### Send email

Call the API with a verified sender address and an `Idempotency-Key`, so retries never send twice. See [Sending email](/docs/learn/sending).

### Follow delivery

Every recipient gets a delivery record: sent, delivered, bounced, opened, clicked. Read it from [email logs](/docs/learn/email-activity) or receive it as a [webhook](/docs/webhooks).

## Send WhatsApp messages

Connect your WhatsApp Business number from the dashboard, get a message template approved by WhatsApp, and send it with one request. Statuses arrive as [webhooks](/docs/webhooks/event-types#whatsapp-events), from sent to read. Start with the [WhatsApp quickstart](/docs/whatsapp/quickstart).
